BIG SAVINGS ARE POSSIBLE ON PRINTER INKs
April 10th, 2008Big savings can be made by dumping over priced manufacturers cartridges for generic ones.
Much is made by the manufacturers about only using their cartridges in their printers. When asked whether using generic cartridges in their printers invalidated their warranties, they all said that fitting a generic cartridge was not a problem but damage caused to a printer or by ink spills as a result of using a generic cartridge was unlikely to be covered. One must ask how many times have you spilt ink when fitting a new cartridge?
None of the generic cartridges I have ever used has caused a problem after years of regular use. On a wide variety of printers.
Manufacturers have been increasingly criticised for bullying customers into their immorally expensive cartridges with grave warnings of the damage that can be caused by generic cartridges.
These warnings are rubbish in most cases. When buying generic cartridges, you can reduce the possibility of failure by checking that the cartridge is manufactured under ISO1441 and ISO9001. If they have been manufactured under these processes then they will be compatible with your printer manufacturers cartridges and perfectly safe to use. The manaufacturers use the same process in the same manufacturing places. HP have their toner cartridges produced in China. It should be remembered that even manufacturers cartridges fail.
What do you expect from your cartridges? Clear crisp text, graphs pictures you can achieve all of this with generic cartridges. It is shown in reports that if you print a couple of pictures and pages of text each week you could expect to spend around 250.00 pound per year using manufacturers cartridges against approximately 80.00 pound for generic cartridges.
In some cases manaufacturers cartridges do not even print 100 pages of text at a price in excess of 25 pounds.
A sign of how expensive manufacturers cartridges are, is in a report where it is shown that there is a healthy trade in counterfeit manufacturers cartridges. The counterfeiters consider fake printer ink are as profitable to sell as selling fake Rolex’s.
The best way to put a halt to this exploitation by the manufacturers is not to buy their products.
